Eduard Zeller was a philosopher and theologian celebrated for his monumental "Philosophy of Greeks in their Historical Development". He is regarded as the first scholar to give a satisfying account of Plotinus' philosophy. Historians of the 19th century invented the term Neoplatonism and applied it to Plotinus and his philosophy.
